Historiografía española sobre las órdenes religiosas en la Edad Moderna: Panorama General

  • 1. Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca

Description

This article aims to outline the general state of research on Religious Orders in the Modern Age (16th to 18th centuries). Spanish historiography until a few decades devoted a limited interest to the knowledge of the clergy in general and, particularly, the regular clergy. In the last decades this situation has changed and the number of works dedicated to the study of the Religious Orders in the different zones of Spain during the Modern Age has multiplied considerably. In sum, it is intended to provide a study that summarily presents the general state of research and publications on this social sector and for the period, which serves as a tool or tool for departure for researchers interested in their study.
