Schools of general secondary education are one of the main tools for the growth and development of universal competencies, which should develop in each area of students. These competencies are concerned with improving students ' knowledge of religious values, laws, and basic principles of the spiritual environment, ensuring their personal development, and making them useful members of society. In this article, on the example of religious values in the discipline "upbringing", information is given about the mechanics of the development of universal competencies of students.
