GHRSST Short course on satellite-derived SST: Atmospheric Effects
Description
This training material is part of the 1st GHRSST short course on satellite-derived SST, which took place at the University of Cape Town from 29-30 May 2014. The short course consists of six sessions with the overall objectives to:
- Increase knowledge about GHRSST and what GHRSST provides
- Increase knowlege of Infrared Radiometry radiative transfer, cloud masking and SST retrieval
- Application of gained knowledge with real practical examples
The Atmospheric Effects session outlines:
- Cloud screening
- Propagation through the atmosphere
- Aerosol scattering
- Quantum effects
- Atmospheric transmissivity
- Water vapor variability
- Infrared atmospheric correction algorithms
