Meteorlogical measurements with mobile sensors in Leipzig during the citizen science project "Meteorologie hautnah"

In the context of a citizen science project in the summer 2022 about city climate in Leipzig, Germany meteorological base parameters were collected with so called MeteoTrackers. The small devices were attached to the bike or car of the participant and data collection was triggered using a smartphone app. Parameters tracked include air temperature, humidity, pressure and luminosity. In addition to that the location (latitude, longitude and altitude) and speed of the smartphone was recorded with each measurement and derived parameters such as the dew point temperature and humidex were calculated by the app.

The data is stored as daily csv files which were produced using the python scripts available in the corresponding GitHub repository.

The project was funded by the Hochschulwettbewerb 2022 a project of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
