EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT OF GIRLS THROUGH ACTIVITY BASED LEARNING IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Authors/Creators
Description
India’s Constitution guarantees free primary school education for both boys and girls up to age 14. This goal has been repeatedly reconfirmed, but primary education in India is not universal. Overall, the literacy rate for women is 39 percent versus 64 percent for men with less than 40 percent of the 330 million women aged seven and above being literate, according to the 1991 census, which means today there are over 200 million illiterate women in India.
