Statins are very effective against ovarian cancer
Description
BACKGROUND:
Several studies reported that statins inhibit the growth of a variety of cancer cell types. In this
publication, the relationship between statin therapy and ovarian cancer has been re-investigated.
MATERIAL AND METHODS:
New statistical methods were used.
RESULTS:
The marital status points to the possibility that ovarian cancer is a sexually transmitted disease,
while human papillomavirus appears to be of causal importance in this context. A therapy with
statins, which competitively inhibit 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme (HMG-CoA) reductase,
is excluding ovarian cancer.
CONCLUSION:
Statins are protecting women against ovarian cancer (P Value = 0.0000092157).
