FDO – Granularity, Versioning, Mutability

The FDO Forum needs a comprehensive definition of what a FAIR Digital Object (FDO) is and what it is not. This requires understanding the various aspects of FDOs, of which aspects of granularity and versioning are highly important. When several ESFRI communities discussed the use of PIDs , the issues of granularity, versioning and mutability were broadly discussed. The results can be transferred to FDOs due to the direct relationship between PIDs and FDO. This document presents aspects that have been mentioned. The main message is that granularity needs to be defined by the community of users.
