Durch Validierung zum Berufsabschluss: Ein gleichwertiger, aber andersartiger Weg für Erwachsene in der Schweiz

Die Bedeutung formaler Bildungsabschlüsse für die soziale und wirtschaftliche Integration, die weitere Berufs- und Bildungslaufbahn und Mobilität des Einzelnen sowie der damit verbundene gesellschaftliche Nutzen hat im Zuge des raschen technologischen und wirtschaftlichen Wandels und der weltweiten Bildungsexpansion zugenommen. Validierungsverfahren gelten als  Schlüsselinstrument, um Lernen außerhalb formaler Bildung zu berücksichtigen und Personen damit den Zugang zu einem formalen Abschluss zu erleichtern. In der schweizerischen beruflichen Grundbildung wird mit „Validierung von Bildungsleistungen“ ein  Qualifikationsverfahren (QV) bezeichnet, das Erwachsenen mit mindestens fünfjähriger Berufserfahrung den Erwerb eines Berufsabschlusses ermöglicht. Dieses QV führt zum gleichen Abschluss wie ein QV mit Abschlussprüfung. Es zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass es Erwachsenen die Möglichkeit bietet, non-formal und informell erworbene Kompetenzen zu dokumentieren und damit zu belegen, dass sie die für einen Beruf festgelegten Kompetenzen erfüllen. In diesem Beitrag werden die Bedeutung der Validierung  von Bildungsleistungen in der schweizerischen beruflichen Grundbildung sowie Vor- und Nachteile dieses Weges zum  Berufsabschluss für Erwachse aufgezeigt und diskutiert.

The importance of attaining formal educational qualifications for the societal and economic integration, educational and professional career, and mobility of individuals, as well as the related societal benefits, has increased in the wake of rapid technological and economic change and the global educational expansion. Validation procedures are seen as a key instrument to recognize prior learning and thus facilitate individuals’ access to a formal qualification. In Swiss initial vocational education and training (VET),
validation of non-formal and informal learning is a qualification procedure that enables adults with at least five years of work  experience to obtain a VET qualification. This qualification procedure leads to the same certificate or diploma as qualification procedures including a final examination. It offers adults the opportunity to document nonformal and informal learning outcomes and thus prove that they meet the required professional competences for the targeted occupation. This contribution highlights and discusses the importance of validation of prior learning in Swiss VET and the advantages and disadvantages of this pathway to vocational qualifications for adults.
