COUNSELLING STRATEGIES FOR PARENTING ADOLESCENTS TOWARDS SMOOTH TRANSITION TO ADULTHOOD

Parenting is not an easy task everywhere in the world particularly parenting of adolescents. It is indeed an Herculean task because of the sensitivity of that stage of development which requires mutual understanding between the parents and adolescents. This paper focused on adolescents and their problems, parenting adolescents and its challenges. Also, counselling strategies that could be employed by parents for smooth transition of adolescents to adulthood were discussed. It is recommended that basically, parents require wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be able to successfully raise adolescent towards adulthood.
