Comparative Analysis OfThe Morphological Features OfThe Caspian Bent-Toed Gecko-Tenuidactylus Caspius (Eichwald, 1831) In The Urbanized Territories Of The Absheron Peninsula
Creators
Description
A comparative analysis ofthe morphological features of the Caspian Bent-toed Gecko in the urbanized
territories of the Absheron peninsula has been performed. was established that the tails of geckoes living
on the Caspian coast are shorter than in geckos liing in residential buildings. Due to the fact that movement
and nutrition of the gecko inhabiting urbanized areas occur on yertical surfaces (on the walls of houses)
elongation of the tail plays an important role in balancing the body of the animal. Along with the elongation
of the tail, a change in the density of the scaly cover was also noted. Thus, in the gecko living on the Caspian
coast, the number of scales in the scaly cover of the lower part of the trunk is larger than in the gecko of
urban areas, which on hot days protects the body of animal from overheating by hot sand.
