Description

We collected reptilian species occurrence records through direct field observations, especially in the north-east of Algeria. The reading of the scientific literature published on the herpetofauna in different regions of Algeria was used to establish the list of Reptiles. Online databases such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) (http://www.gbif.org/), the Reptile Database (http://www.reptile-database.org/) and also the IUCN Red List were used. We also used personal observations of the experts, unpublished reports), and consultation with specialized groups on biodiversity and wildlife in Algeria.

The reptiles occurrences in Algeria were organized and identified based on the literature by Chirio (1995), Schleich et al. (1996)Rouag and Benyacoub (2006), Larbes (2007)Geniez (2015)Beddek (2017)Mouane et al. (2021) and the validation of a list of the Reptiles by researchers from Chadli Bendjedid University: Rachid Rouag, was carried out from a synthesis of this literature data. In all,  102 species were identifited. The Global Names Resolver (http://www.resolver.globalnames.org/) tool was used for taxonomic spell-checking.
