Today, the idea of a practical orientation of the academic subject “Ukrainian as a foreign language” is increasingly being established in the activities of the preparatory departments. While the speech competence development is a complex concept and covers the system of speech skills, which formation should be carried out at the elementary level (A1-A2), in accordance with the requirements of the educational program. The aim of learning Ukrainian as a foreign language at the elementary level is “primarily to form foreign students' ability to make sentences within the limits of conversational topics available to them”
