Psychological Tools and Techniques in Scientific Investigation of Criminal Behavior

Abstract

Criminal tendencies have been present in human society since time immemorial. Over time, there have been changes in the nature and nature of many types of crimes. Problems like theft, dacoity, exploitation of women etc. have been seen since ancient times, but in today's modern times with the advancement of science and technology, the trend of these crimes has also changed.  In today's time, there has been a great increase in cybercrime, black money, human trafficking, rape, feticide and digital crime.  But it is very important to understand what the cause of all these crimes is. Many pieces of research show that the main reasons for this are economic, social and psychological, but understanding the causes of these crimes and treating them is very important for society. Today, there are many tests and techniques of psychology by which we can assess the behavior of a criminal. In this chapter, we will throw light on what are the factors that make a person a criminal and what are the psychological techniques by which we can understand the behavior of a criminal.
