"PROGRAMA MAIS EDUCAÇÃO" IN RONDÔNIA, BRAZIL: EMPTYING THE ROLE OF SCHOOL AND DENIAL OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE
Description
This paper aims to analyze the undervaluation of the school role by the Programa Mais Educação regarding to its primary function of transmitting scientific knowledge historically produced by mankind. The research analyzed official documents and conducted semi-structured interviews with the subjects involved in the process of implementing the program in the region of Zona da Mata in Rondônia, Brazil. The postmodern ideology that denies the importance of sharing scientific knowledge and the role of the school in transmitting universal content is present the Programa Mais Educação, in the name of the creation of “learning networks” and “educational territories” that would extend throughout the city. In practice, there is no basic infrastructure, the monitors are volunteers and do not receive training, there is no improvement in the appropriation of knowledge and students are stigmatized for their social condition. Coordinators, principals, teachers and monitors highlight the authoritarian way in which the Programa Mais Educação was implemented, and do not consider it a proposal with a comprehensive education practice and criticize its focusing nature.
