Description
Literature is approached because of the richness of thoughts and feelings to which readers gain access. Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland provokes the readership to a vigorous exercise in perceiving emotional subtleties beyond words and in discovering a profound meaning in the emotional manifestations of characters. The illocutionary and the perlocutionary speech acts (Austin J. L., 1962) exert here a stronger force when analysed from the perspective of emotional intelligence. The present paper focuses on the way the book may be approached from the perspective of The Four-Branch Model of Emotional Intelligence designed by John D. Mayer and Peter Salovey in order to raise the awareness regarding the force of emotions, what triggers them and what makes someone an emotionally literate person.
