Description
Big data is a term that describes large, hard-to-manage volumes of data – both structured and unstructured – that swamp businesses on a day-to-day basis. But it's not just the type or amount of data that's important, it's what organizations do with the data that matters. Data analytics is the science of analysing raw data to make conclusions about that information. Many of the techniques and processes of data analytics have been automated into mechanical processes and algorithms that work over raw data for human consumption .Analytics is the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics. It is used for the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data. It also entails applying data patterns towards effective decision-making. In this paper we are trying to understand big data challenges, what exactly data science is and what do data scientists do. Also we studied about how data science is contrasted with other discipline like machine learning, computation science, data analysis, traditional software delivery, scientific computing, data engineering etc. We analysed some case studies and use cases. We analysed application of big data analysis in Stanford Medicine together with Google cloud platform to support with precision health and more efficient patient care. Another case study in the field of cancer research, which require huge amount of data processing, is also analysed in this paper IoT devices are used in a wide range of businesses and industries which result in large quantities of diverse data. Billions of real time data are collected in IoT devices. Big data analysis is helping to make sense of this data.
