Description
Comparisons with foreign literary phenomena, in particular with Victor Hugo's French Romantic model, approached through the method of comparativism, have been an important landmark for the development of the topic of this paper. The final aim was to illustrate how drama, as a historical subject of the 19th century, forged its own profile, assimilating, in a creative manner, Hugolian motifs and artistic processes. This choice represented a social fact and was revealing for the intellectual and artistic climate of the time. What seems significant to us is the metamorphosis of ideas and not their appropriation. The internal dimension of the act of reception remains the essential premise of comparative research.
