This article discusses the development of mathematics as a science. The author within the framework of the study draws attention to the need to study and promote the works of mathematicians who left an indelible mark on the history of science. The article tells the purpose of the development of the discipline of mathematics and its contribution to the prosperity of society. The study draws attention to the role of mathematics in the educational process. The author gives conclusions and recommendations on the researched direction
