Description
The rainfall in Kutch District is very scanty and irregular and the district has very few rainy days. The average annual rainfall in the district is between 300 mm to 400 mm. The number of rainy days varies between 14 days to 17 days. The Rapar taluka is located on the eastern side of Kutch district. It has a geographical area of 302769 hectares. The region mostly consists of sandy clay soil. It has two medium irrigation schemes Suvi and Fatehgadh of the 20 medium irrigation schemes of Kutch region. There are number of observation wells and piezometers in the taluka for which the pre-monsoon and post monsoon water levels have been recorded. Through this paper it is attempted to study the Rainfall Pattern and its effect on the ground water table fluctuations for Rapar taluka.
