Description
Abstract – The paper presents the results of an analysis that addresses the issue of a just transition of some
Slovenian regions. The results of the analysis clearly indicate that the state must develop appropriate regulations and measures to encourage the participation of energy-intensive companies in joint projects with local communities. In this context, local energy communities will have a vitally important role, as they will help municipalities to manage the environmental, energy, transport, demographic and migration burdens they face in clear cooperation with energy-intensive companies and network operators. The conclusion of the paper objectively presents the challenges of the future development of energy communities as a platform for
connecting energy-intensive sectors with local communities on the way of achieving common goals of a just
transition to a climate-neutral society by 2050.
