Description

The rainfall in Kutch District is very scanty and irregular and the district has very few rainy days. The average annual rainfall in the district is between 300 mm to 400 mm. The number of rainy days varies between 10 days to 17 days. The Lakhpat taluka is located in the central mainland of Kutch district. The region mostly consists of sandy clay soil. It has a geographical area of 121580 hectares. The average annual rainfall for Anjar is 345 mm as against 356 mm average annual rainfall of Kutch district. Through this paper it is attempted to study the Rainfall Pattern for Anjar taluka and compare it with that of Kutch district. For this purpose, annual rainfall data for a period of 130 years from 1878 to 2007 is studied and the probabilities of occurrence and dry and wet spells for the taluka as well as the region have been determined.
