The article is devoted to the analysis of various aspects of the development of children's cognitive sphere, which is the basis for the formation of intellectual abilities in the learning process. The main feature of the development of the cognitive sphere of children of primary school age is the transition of the mental cognitive processes of the child to a higher level. This is expressed in the more arbitrary nature of the course of most mental processes, as well as in the formation of abstract and logical forms of thinking in a child, as a key to the development of intelligence.
