Description
The bacterium Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. poinsettiae was first described in 1942 in the US and was found to be the culprit of leaf spot, stem rot and canker on poinsettias. In 2014, the pathogen was detected in Germany and sporadically in several other European countries. The bacterium poses a potential risk to the production of poinsettias, one of the most widely sold potted plants in the world.
