Description
Since this species has been recorded in our country for a relatively long time, one can only consider its permanent establishment and further spread. Cnephasia longana is likely to spread mostly by natural dispersal, so it is difficult to find effective methods to stop it. Climatologically projected changes indicate that C. longana will expand its range eastward in Poland, and its numbers will increase in regions with the mildest climates. It is likely that the speed of spread will also be affected by increasing average wind speed. If a mass occurrence of larvae of this species is recorded in cereal crops (or other plants), chemical control should be applied, which can delay the spread of C. longana to neighboring areas. The problem is that there are no registered plant protection products to control the C. longana in cereal crops.
