Description

In recent years, with the publication of PNEC2030 and RNG 2050, a strong effort has been made to increase renewable capacity, with special emphasis in recent months, following the energy crisis that is taking place across Europe and the rest of the world. In this sense, distributed generation also assumes a relevant role as a contribution to reducing the use of fossil fuels and the energy bill. In this article we intend to present the mapping of wind potential in the city of Lisbon and surrounding areas from the perspective of planning the installation of wind microgeneration systems, as well as the application of geographic information techniques, with a view to identifying areas of interest for installing these systems. The wind potential mapping will be obtained based on the CFD based WindSim model, and validated with existing experimental data in some points of the city of Lisbon, which will allow the calibration/correction of the modelled wind results. It should be also noted that the flow modeling takes into account the urban fabric, in this caseobtained by the COPERNICUS services, whose description of the building presents a high resolution that will allow the characterization of the buildings in the wind flow with some precision.
