Description

This dataset includes the time-averaged outputs on the pressure level (i.e., output_plev_XXXX.nc) and the original daily outputs on the model sigma level (i.e., swmodelout_XXXX.nc) from the SWM for the paper entitled "Increased US coastal hurricane risk under climate change" submitted to Science Advances in 2022. These experiments were conducted to clarify why large-scale flows over the western Atlantic will change as climate warms. 

output_plev_CTRL.nc; swmodelout_CTRL.nc - simulates the large-scale flow in current climate (1980-2014)

output_plev_Future.nc; swmodelout_Future.nc - simulates the large-scale flow in future climate (2066-2100)

output_plev_CTRL_plus_deltaBS.nc; swmodelout_CTRL_plus_deltaBS.nc - investigates the effect of future changes in zonal-mean basic state (e.g., temperature) on large-scale flows

output_plev_CTRL_plus_deltaDH.nc; swmodelout_CTRL_plus_deltaDH.nc - investigates the effect of future changes in diabatic heating (e.g., temperature, wind) on large-scale flows

output_plev_CTRL_plus_deltaPacDH.nc; swmodelout_CTRL_plus_deltaPacDH.nc - investigates the effect of future changes in diabatic heating over the Pacific (e.g., temperature, wind) on large-scale flows

output_plev_CTRL_plus_deltaAtlDH.nc; swmodelout_CTRL_plus_deltaAtlDH.nc - investigates the effect of future changes in diabatic heating over the Atlantic (e.g., temperature, wind) on large-scale flows

output_plev_CTRL_plus_deltaTranF.nc; swmodelout_CTRL_plus_deltaTranF.nc - investigates the effect of future changes in synoptic transient eddies (e.g., temperature, wind) on large-scale flows
