Solutions of environmental problems with the use of polyene macrolactone preparation in combination with dimethyl sulfoxide
Description
Biological activity of antibiotics was shown to increase sharply when polyene antibiotics (PA) were used in combination with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Comparative physico-chemical characteristics of DMSO and PO were presented. Effects of the interaction of DMSO and PA with the bilayer lipid membranes (BLM) were considered. Parameters of the biological activity of PA were determined using the BLM method. Amphotericin B and levorin appeared to be the most effective among the all studied PA. The dependence between BLM conductivity and concentrations of amphotericin B and levorin as well as concentrations of cholesterol in membranes was established. On the basis of PA, an ecological model of environmental protection was developed by creating effective membrane-active preparations against viral, bacterial and fungal diseases of animals and plants.
