Description
After passing away of Mawlana, issue of choosing next successor was considered by his disciples. When Mawlana was alive, he granted the Qutb position to Husam-al-din Chalaby, the leader of Akhyan organization symbolically. In this way, he not only aligned the Akhyan organization (which was one of eminent and influential organizations in Anatolia) with Mevlevieh doctrine, but also solved the problem of next successor. Based on evidences, after the dying of Mawlana, his daughter in law, Fatima Khatun, was against the successorship of Husam-al-din. She was one of those few ladies of Mawlana dynasty who got the lessons from the Mawlana directly and established some feminine classes and sermons for ladies of Seljuk sultans in Anatolia specially. She was dissatisfied with naming Chalaby as Qutb and aware of negligence of her husband Sultan walad in this issue, started to act in support of her son Amir Aref and provided such conditions to him to be accepted by Mawlana's disciples. In this way, she prevented transferring Qutb position to others and played a fundamental role in inheritance of Qutb position in Mevlevieh doctrine in its period of establishment and development. This article intends to study the issue of power transfer and also effective role of Fatima Khatun in inheritance of it in the doctrine of Mevlevieh, employing "Max Weber's power, authority and legitimacy theory".
