The Report - Review Committee on DDE
Description
The Committee has undertaken the review with the intention of suggesting changes, if necessary, for system improvement of DDE, MANUU, Hyderabad. The Committee has subjected the practices of the Directorate of Distance Education to reasoned scrutiny from the learners' perspective within the broad normative framework of the ODL System. It was not a fault-finding exercise. It was more to develop "standard operating procedures" with the required flexibility to ensure the effectiveness of ODL Operations. It is rightly observed that "in the conventional system, the teacher teaches and in distance education the institution teaches". The Committee led by Prof. V. S. Prasad believed that the University administration should channelize the collective energies to bring important tasks to completion and develop a shared vision and a shared meaning within the institution. The report suggested many changes in the structures and processes, many of them incremental in nature with the belief that incremental changes are more sustainable. The report believes that the continuous improvement approach is the best way to make the systems relevant to the changing times and hopes the Report will help in finding the pathways for appropriate actions. The Committee strongly recommends to the University and the Directorate of Distance Education to initiate follow-up actions on the Review Committee Report with time-bound realization-focused actions. Action is wisdom.
Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed I. Patel was the coordinator of the Committee.
