Description

This paper provides a delay compensation method for a system having a multilevel inverter (three-phase three-level inverter Neutral-Point Clamped inverter) with model predictive control strategy. The model predictive control is implemented to decrease the computational effort for Model Predictive Current Control (MPCC) as well as to predict future load current values for all twenty seven switching states generated by the inverter. Compensation strategy is applied to reduce the number of calculations needed and that usually result in time delay in the actuation or in deteriorated performance. A comparison takes place between a system using delay compensation and a system without delay compensation implementation to verify how the compensation affects the desired outcome and consequently the whole system performance. The modelling and simulation of the whole system will be performed using the following programs: MATLAB/Simulink and PSIM.
