Description

This study is an attempt towards a jurimetrics analysis of the judgments of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on the topic of copyright, covering a period of 72 years (1950 to present). For this analysis, 161 judgments are retrieved from the Manupatra Indian legal database. Hon’ble justice S.B. Sinha has delivered a greater number of judgments (16) than Hon’ble justice A.K. Sikri with 15 judgments. The highest number of cases were found in Intellectual Property Rights with 42, followed by Civil with 29. A bench of two judges has given more than 100 judgements. The study also found that the annual growth rate of judgments is on an increasing trend. These judgments are further analyzed with highly cited judgments and the keywords in copyright.
