STABILITY POTENTIAL OF THE LEAD-ANTIMONY ELECTRODE REFERENCE ELECTRODE
Authors/Creators
Description
The aim of the work was to investigate the stability of the potential of the lead-antimony reference electrode. The possibility of selective dissolution of antimony from lead-antimony alloy and its effect on the reference electrode potential was established. Cyclicity of potential changes in time as a result of corrosion was found. Assumption of periodical course of lead and antimony dissolution at lead-antimony alloy corrosion is put forward. Change of elemental composition of reference electrodes surface during corrosion is investigated. It has been established that it is impossible to use an alloy of the given composition as a reference electrode in lead-acid batteries with automated system of state control.
