NUCAPS Aqua June 2022 Case Studies

A prototype science-to-applications system was developed by NASA SPoRT, STC, SSEC, and JPL to enable real-time processing of AIRS satellite sounding retrievals through the NOAA Unique Combined Atmospheric Processing System (NUCAPS). This prototype science-to-applications system enables rapid processing and delivery of observations within 1 hour of the Aqua overpass by leveraging direct broadcast capabilities.  These data are pre-convective cases from June 14-15, 2022 to demonstrate the value and benefit of NUCAPS-Aqua to support severe weather analysis and forecasting.
