Using bio diesel from biomass as an alternative vehicle fuel to reduce China's carbon footprint
Description
Abstract:CO2 emission is a burning issue in current time. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the critical anthropogenic greenhouse gas due to its abundance and its ability to remain in the atmosphere for thousands of years [1]. It is well-known that CO2 emissions contribute to global warming and climate change, which can significantly cause severe impacts and consequences for humans and the environment. CO2 emissions act like a blanket in the air, trapping heat in the atmosphere, and warming up the Earth [2]. This layer prevents the Earth from cooling, and thus raises global temperatures.
A typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. This assumes the average gasoline vehicle on the road today has a fuel economy of about 22.0 miles per gallon and drives around 11,500 miles per year. Every gallon of gasoline burned creates about 8,887 grams of CO2.
Biodiesel is a domestically produced, clean-burning, renewable substitute for petroleum diesel. Using biodiesel as a vehicle fuel increases energy security, improves air quality and the environment, and provides safety benefits.
In this paper we will discuss about current carbon emission in china, overview of biomass and their past and present uses, production process of bio diesel from biomass, Limitation of using biodiesel and proposed solution to overcome these challenges.
