We focused on the use of fairy tale as a medium of realization of the goal of social learning in the field of emotiveness, self-esteem and promoting tolerance and belonging to the group. Through the involvement of research participants in the fairy-tale workshops and the implementation of various activities, we observed changes in the mentioned social learning areas among the participants. At the end of the workshop we also carried out direct, semi-structured interviews among the participants to examine their memorization and understanding of the fairy tales read. This gave us an insight into their ability to absorb material and think about things that are an integral part of life.
The research enabled us to determine whether it is possible to realize the goals of social learning using fairy tale, to carry out various activities in the area of word understanding and artistic expression and to positively influence the relations in the group. We found that the fairy tale is a medium that enables social learning and skill advancement in adults with moderate mental disorder. The fairy tale contributes significantly to a better self-esteem, understanding of emotions, mutual cooperation and acceptance of diversity.
