This article discusses ontological, axiological, diachronic, systemic, synergetic approaches to the study of teenage subculture in the information society. The author highlights the research capabilities of each of the approaches, while pointing out the weaknesses. The article considers the range of techniques and methods for studying subcultures, which allows researchers to take into account the specifics of the object under study. The question of interaction and mutual influence of the dominant culture and teenage subculture is touched upon. At the end of the article, the author comes to the conclusion that the study of teenage subculture in a rapidly changing society confronts the researcher with the problem of selecting scientific methods, taking into account the whole variety of methodological approaches to the problem under study.
