Artificial Intelligence has created revolution in every field of human endeavour. With the use of Artificial Intelligence designed programs, computers have improved the quality and speed of outcome, productivity, executing smart ideas quickly. Artificial Intelligence has taken smart computing to greater heights. Artificial Intelligence comes up with smart ideas to enhance human intelligence. This paper examines the role of Artificial Intelligence and how it will impact various functioning of Higher Education, to understand the Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Education. It studies educational implications of emerging technologies and impact on the way students learn and institutions teach, evolve and progress. Recent technological advancements and the increasing speed of innovation and adopting new technologies in higher education are studied in order to predict the future nature of higher education in a world where artificial intelligence will be part of universities and education worldwide. This paper also pinpoints some challenges for institutions of higher education and student learning in the adoption of AI and technologies for teaching, learning, student support, administration and explore further directions for research.
