IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON DISTRICT LEVEL FARM CREDIT- MAHARASHTRA
Description
The covid-19 has been declared as international public health emergency by World Health Organisation. In response to counter the pandemic the government of India and state governments had taken various steps time to time to mitigate the impact on society and economy. During the lockdown, the agriculture was the backbone of economy; it had offered a solitary in such situation to production strength of food supply. In this study analyzed the impact of covid-19 on disbursement of farm credit in Maharashtra. The study found the negative growth in the credit flow to the agriculture and allied activities non priority sector in Jan, Feb, June, July and Aug between 2019-20 and 2020-21 year on year basis. There was no impact of Covid-19 on agriculture credit in general and farm credit in particular. The agriculture credit disbursement had been increased during Covid-19 as compare to pre covid-19 in 2019-20.
