Human Resource Development in Maharashtra: An Appraisal

Description

Maharashtra is known as an advanced and progressive state in India.  It is the third largest state in terms of area, second largest in terms of population, third largest in terms of income and seventh largest in terms of human development indices.  The contribution of social reformers in Maharashtra is very important in the human development of Maharashtra.  Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Dr.  Babasaheb Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Agarkar Gopalkrishna Gokhale.  Dhondo Keshav Karve, Dr.  Punjabrao Dekmukh, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, His Holiness Bapuji Salunkhe, Shikshan Maharshi Dr.V.T.  The work done by social workers like Patal at various levels is the foundation of human development in today's Maharashtra.  He freed the society from the yoke of customs and superstitions harmful to the development of the society and showed the way of education to the society.  Special efforts were made for women's education to bring the neglected women into the mainstream.  This effort has contributed to human development in Maharashtra
