Description
This contains the processed simulation data in normalized units (see Sec. 3 for details)
fig2icdata.zip contains the 2D data used for the ZY cuts of the initial conditions for a typical 3-D simulation shown in Fig. 2. These are CSV arrays with size 256 x 1024 (Z x Y) where fig2a.csv is for the net current (Jz) and fig2b.csv is the coherent perturbation in the magnetic field (By) used to initialize the simulations (see Sec. 3). The z coordinate ranges from -127 to 128 in steps of size 1 and the y coordinate ranges from -25.6 to 25.55 in steps of size 0.05.
fig3bydiffdata.zip contains the time-distance stack data of the averaged reconnected magnetic field (equation 17) for all thirteen 3-D simulations used in this study in the form of CSV tables, with the format time x distance (z), and with filenames of the form bydiffXXX.csv, where XXX is the run number. The data used for the four panels in Fig 3 are identified with prefixes fig3a/figb/fig3c/fig3d. The z coordinate for all thirteen simulations ranges from -127 to 128 in steps of size 1, whereas the time coordinate ranges from 0 to the maximum simulated time t (different for each simulation, specified in RunTable.csv) in steps of size 1.
RunTable.csv is a table made up of columns in the order of appearance: the run number and its corresponding min and max current sheet thicknesses (w1 and w2), the calculated spreading speed vspread, the predicted spreading speed w1/w2^2 (for thin-to-thick spreading, see Sec. 2.1), the deviation from the prediction (where applicable), the min and max z-values z1 and z2 used for calculating the spreading velocity in that range (see Sec. 4 paragraph 4), and the maximum simulated time t. To reproduce the least squares fit in Fig. 4b, use the columns labeled vspread and w1/w2^2 (the dependent and independent variables respectively), excluding the bottom 3 rows which are for simulations with w1>w2 which are not part of the prediction for thin-to-thick reconnection spreading (see Sec. 2.1).
