Description
Among the main criteria in determining the status of a language (verb-framed languages or satellite-framed languages) is the part of speech that usually expresses the path of movement. In order to test and determine the type of language, it is necessary to investigate the linguistic means available to render the mode of movement, the semantics of the mode and the frequency of expression of the mode. In order to analyze the typological means of lexicalization specific to Romanian, French and Russian, we will start by examining the verbs of motion in the three languages, because, according to researcher L. Talmy, establishing the verbs of motion in a certain language and determining the semantic components present in those verbs of movement contribute to the process of determining the type of language. Different types of movement verbs in the studied languages were analyzed. The corpus of the movement verbs was analyzed and compared, and the basis for determining the typology of the given languages and verbs were: the path, the source and the target.
