Description
Mitigating equity gaps is a focus for many institutions of higher education. Many campuses leverage diversity action planning or student equity planning to create change toward inclusive excellence. California Community Colleges (CCCs) have been using Student Equity Plans (SEPs) to report on equity gaps and activities to reduce disparities in success rates for disproportionately impacted groups. This qualitative document analysis critically analyzed the SEPs of CCCs to identify strategies for systemic and institutional change to positively impact racially minoritized success rates. CCCs have been able to use SEPs to share a vision and create buy-in for embedding equity-minded work at their campuses. Using SEPs, CCCs can continue to build capacity for all campus stakeholders to create personal change to truly create transformative systemic and institutional change.
