Description
Scattered light that re-couples with the main beam of current gravitational wave detectors is a major limitation of their sensitivity, especially at low frequencies. The detector noise depends on the amount of scattered light that is actually produced and the relative movement of the optical benches producing scattered light and the main interferometer beam. This work reports the approach followed in Virgo to study and mitigate this noise source.
