Description
Advances in nanotechnology have resulted in widespread use of nanomaterials (1), bringing with them new and unreported toxicity hazards. There is increasing demand for modern manufacturing techniques which incorporate safety-by-design (SbD) principles.
- Nanomaterial (NM) production can expose the end user and production workers to toxic media
- High-throughput, in vitro screening methods are essential for meeting the demands of hazard identification (2, 3)
- Previous in-vitro methods rely on viability assays with living cells, which take days to cultivate
