Description

In this study, it is aimed to determine the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the physical mental, physical health and life satisfaction of teachers working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Gaziantep. A survey was conducted using mental and physical health scales. It is a 4-point Likert type scale. It was determined that the Turkish form of the scale, whose validity and reliability studies were carried out while adapting to Turkish, was reliable and applicable. In the comparison of more than two independent groups, when the results of Anova and Tukey multiple comparison tests for normally distributed variables and Kruskal Wallis and Dunn multiple comparison techniques for non-normally distributed variables were evaluated, the participants' mental and physical health scale scores and life satisfaction in terms of the "time to do sports at home" variable. It can be stated that there is a significant difference between the scores of the scale. In the pairwise comparisons made in order to understand which independent groups the difference originated from, it was determined that the mental and physical health scale scores of the participants showed significant differences in all groups. On the other hand, it was determined that the life satisfaction scale scores of the participants were not significant between the participants who did not do sports "never" and those who separated "1 day a week", but the difference between all other groups was significant. It can be stated that there is a significant difference between the participants' mental and physical health scale scores and life satisfaction scale scores in terms of the "daily internet usage time" variable. According to the pairwise comparisons made between independent groups, the mental and physical health scale scores of the participants whose “daily internet usage time during the Covid-19 pandemic period” is 1-3 hours are significantly higher than the scores of the participants who have 4 hours or more. It was determined that the participants' Life Satisfaction Scale scores differed significantly between all groups. It can be said that there is a significant difference between the scores of the participants in the Satisfaction with Life Scale in terms of the variable "the most common recreational activity at home during the Covid-19 pandemic period". It can be stated that there is a significant difference between the mental and physical health scale scores of the participants in terms of the "most frequently performed recreational activity at home during the Covid-19 pandemic period" variable. In the pairwise comparisons made to understand which independent groups the difference originates from, it is seen that there is a significant difference between the mental and physical health scale scores of the participants "Other" and "reading", and "sports" and "other". It is recommended that individuals do regular physical activity in order to protect their mental and physical health and increase their quality of life.
