Description

The Short-Baseline Near Detector (SBND) will soon provide an unprecedented amount of data on neutrino-argon interactions. Such high statistics, along with the accumulated knowledge on liquid argon detectors, will allow comprehensive studies of interactions with many different signatures. This poster presents a study, using Monte Carlo simulated data, of events with a muon, at least one proton, and no pions in the final state (CC 1μNp0π), which is a channel of specific interest to neutrino-nucleus interaction studies as well as to neutrino oscillation searches. First, we inspect how the stages in reconstruction and event selection effect the efficiency and purity of the selected sample and discuss optimization directions for different analysis purposes. Then, we test and compare different neutrino energy estimation methods in context of the physics goals of SBND. In this process, we address the challenges in the analysis chain on the way to fully exploiting the expected SBND dataset with over a million neutrino events, even on exclusive channels like these.
