NATURAL FLAVONES. PART II. ON THE COLOURING MATTERS OF THE BARK OF OROXYLUM INDICUM, VENT.
Authors/Creators
Description
Oroxylin, the yellow colouring matter of the bark of Oroxylum indicum, Vent. was isolated and :investigated by Naylor and his collaborators, who ascribed the formula C19H14O8 to the compound. The present authors have been able to prove that Naylor's oroxylin is a mixture of at least three hydroxyflavones, namely, baicalein, 6-methyl. baicalein and chrysin. Chrysin and baicalein have been isolated and identified, but 6-znethylbaicalein could not be completely freed from chrysin.
