ON THIOALDEHYDES AND THIOKETONES. PART II.

Description
A general method for the synthesis of thiophens and endothiothiophens has been described. The antocondensation of certain a.keto-alcohols followed by an internal rearrrangement in an atmosphere of H2S furnishes endothiothiophens. A new synthesis of thiophens has also been achieved by an application of this reaction to unsaturated \(\gamma\)-diketones.
