SOMATOTYPE OF ACTIVE TITLED GYMNASTS IN GEORGIAN POPULATION

Properly conducted athletic selection at the initial state of age periodization determines the quality of sports achievements of the athlete at the following stage of ontogenesis, as well as the extent of physical, intellectual and economic resources for achievement of the goals set by the coach. We offer that early athletic selection should be performed on the basis of somatotypes established for given sports. In our opinion, this would greatly contribute to saving of the athlete’s and coach’s psycho-physical and social resources.
