Fascism Through the Lense off (Inter)national Newspapers - Poster
Description
The significant influence that the fascist and National Socialist regimes have had on the national press and publication landscape has been well documented in international research. Nevertheless, the perception and representation of political actions took place not only at home, but also abroad and thus outside the direct sphere of influence of the two regimes. An important example of this is the Digital Exile Press – German-language exile journals 1933–1945 hosted by the German National Library. With the help of quantitative text analyses of the German-language Exile Press and a set of contrastive contemporary German and Italian Press, the corpora will be examined with regard to:
- Perception of Fascism and National Socialism from the perspective of the exiled citizens.
- Reconstruction of media strategies in the political discourse.
- Characteristic topics of the various press publications.
